ORDER OF PROTECTION
Save any threatening e-mails or voicemail messages. You can use these to take legal action in the future, if you choose to. If you already have a order of protection, the messages can serve as evidence in court that the order was violated.
Keep your protection order _______________(location). (Always keep it on or near your person).
Give a copy of your protection order to police departments in the communities where you usually visit family or friends and in the community where you live.
For further safety, if you often visit other counties in Tennessee, you might file your protection order with the court in those counties.
You will register my protection order in the following counties: _________________ and _________________.
Call the local domestic violence program if you have a problem with my protection order.
Inform your employer, minister, closest friend and _____________ and ____________ that you have a protection order in effect.
If your partner destroys your protection order, you can get another copy from Maury County Court House (931) 381-3690.
If your partner violates the protection order, you can call the police and report a violation, contact your attorney, call your advocate, and/or advise the court of the violation.
If the police do not help, you can contact my advocate or attorney.
You can also file a private criminal complaint with the district justice in the jurisdiction where the violation occurred or with the district attorney.
You can charge the batterer with a violation of the Order of Protection and all the crimes that he/she commits in violating the order. You can call the domestic violence advocate to help you with this.
I will always keep a
cell phone with me. All cell phones can call 911.
I will keep this document in a safe place and out of the reach of my potential attacker.
